Gin
Garden_Gimlet_I.jpg

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Gin - we used @thewaltercollective

  • 0.5 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice

  • 0.5 oz simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water boiled until clear, then cooled)

  • 2 mint leaves

  • 2 basil leaves

  • Half a Persian cucumber or quarter of a standard English cucumber

Tools

  • Muddler

  • Shaker

  • Mesh strainer

  • Hawthorn strainer or something to keep ice from falling when pouring

Instructions

  • Muddle cucumber at bottom of a shaker tin with the muddler until pulverized.

  • Add all herb leaves, continue to muddle.

  • Add all liquid ingredients and ice to shaker tin and shake until condensation forms.

  • Double strain into a chilled cocktail glass, we used a goblet, but you could use a Nick and Nora glass or standard cocktail/martini glass.

  • Garnish with a cucumber wheel and mint leaf.

    Enjoy!!

P.S. If you don’t have mint and basil leaves, we recommend trying with other bright herbs - coriander, sage, dill, tarragon. If you don’t have cucumber, though it wouldn’t taste quite the same, you could try other vegetables like fennel, carrot or arugula. Let us know how yours turns out and if you try a riff on this recipe!!
