Aquavit Bloody Mary

There is nothing quite as amazing as a high-quality bloody mary on a Sunday! We perfected this aquavit bloody mary, which has a wonderful slight caraway seed flavor to it and contains two servings of vegetables (thanks V8 juice!)

We usually get out a million ingredients when we make bloody marys: Worcestershire sauce, A1, Tapatio, fresh ground pepper, horseradish, etc. It can be a bit cumbersome, especially when we’re traveling. During our recent trip down to the Monterey/Santa Cruz area, we tried out using Demitri’s bloody mary seasoning and actually were really impressed. It’s designed for pitchers and large servings, but we figured out how to work it into an individual serving to great affect.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz tomato juice - we used V8 after trying a few. We found this to be the best flavor.

  • 1.5oz Aquavit - we used @venusspirits

  • 0.5oz @demitrisbloodymary classic recipe bloody mary seasoning (we got this on Amazon and found that it did a really good job of getting a lot of the flavors without the 5-6 bottles of ingredients)

  • 0.25oz Dill pickle juice

  • 3 dashes of sriracha

  • A few drops of lemon juice

Tools

  • Shaker

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to shaker tin with ice

  • Give 2-3 shakes

  • Pour everything into a chilled highball glass including ice. This is what we call the dirty shake!

  • Garnish with pickles, olives, celery, bacon, etc - this drink is just as much about the garnish as it is everything else.
